The Story

Long after the gen-O-pod(TM) wars, a world rebuilt by chimeras teeters on the brink of collapse. An ancient threat stirs and alliances fracture, genetically-crafted factions must choose between survival and annihilation - in a war that may end civilization again.

The Sanskrit word goptri means "military governor, ruler, or protector." It can also be translated as "secret" or "hidden." All of these meanings work in Goptri of the Mists.

The original Goptri is a faux Shiva named Manish. His rise to power begins when an robot ambassador shoots his wife, Arti. Spoiler alert: she lives.

Manish becomes a very vocal leader, in his attempt to rid Arreti of the Technarcy, but his office is responsible for one of the most secretive species in the world, one that contains the memories of the most violent human who ever lived. Discovery of their existence could start a civil war.

All of this is merely the beginning of a galaxy-spanning tale of intrigue, betrayal, and bloody retribution.

Every victory costs more than blood.
The end of your world is the beginning of theirs.

REVIEWS

One of the best books I've read in a looong time
- James Timothy Lumetrio Studios

My mother warned me there were men who would seduce my brain and force me to lock my door and live out salacious fantasies long before they bought me dinner. You are a dangerous man, McSciFi. You are also one fuck of a writer. Given my job, you'll be surprised to know Queen Lynno has me questioning my orientation, (the villian) has me rethinking society in general, and my 4 years serving in Bhartiya Sena left me truly impressed with all your militaries. Ending up horny and violent was new to me. Write more, you asshole.
- Vihana S. My Day Job

This world is our world and not. It is our future, and not. When multiple nuclear missiles can rightly be used as an example of subtle persuasion it becomes a testament to the deep, and twisted, humor that permeates this series. The fact that a gay wedding is the capstone for a bloody revolution is a perfect example of how dichotomies constantly intertwine to tie every story thread together. All in all, this is world building, and story telling, at its finest.
- Sarah G., PHD

It feels so wrong to be fearing for the future of humanity, screaming at it for all its hubris, and then flicking the bean until my hips bent. But that's what reading this is like. (McCormick) shows how playing god has dire consequences. But that's not enough for him. His Rohta plays god by creating avatars of our gods and making them slaves. Rohta was not a nice man.
- Indira D. My Sex LIfe

The second book starts off with a banal talking head. I almost skimmed past it until I realized the creature being interviewed like it was after a boring football match was calmly, and clearly, explaining why they had to nuke the planet and start over. Read every word, people. McCormick ain't playin'.
- Shivansh M.

There's a horny squid and nukes. What more could I ask for?
- Mike B.

I never considered giving my spouse a year's worth of meat for our anniversary.
- Linda H.

Essentially book number four in the Brittle Riders Trilogy, Goptri (Kittab Ek) manages to slam the reader into a shaky seat and fling them off a ledge. While the Brittle Riders gave you some, if not many, familiar concepts to grab onto, Goptri embraces this alien new world, with all its tentacles and lore, and demands you either accept it or go home. By the time you get to the first assassination you'll know it's worth sticking around. When you find yourself enjoying a snack of wine and cheese with three eyed snipers, you'll realize the mirror McCormick's holding up is reflecting humanity's darkest heart and it's simplest joys all blended together. This isn't so much a continuation of The Brittle Riders as a menacingly gleeful reimagining. I can't wait to read the fifth book in this weird trilogy.
- Harold O.

Okay, wow, did not see this villain coming. The evil unleashed is beyond daunting.
- Aariz M.

Relentless and riveting.
- Bill P.

No matter how much you'll want to you can never look away from the mirror McCormick sticks in front of your mind.
- Tina U.

(McCormick's) always been LGBTQIA+ friendly, but this subtly raises the bar and we, for one, are thrilled.
- Ashanti & Carol D.
